Van Cortlandt Village fire destroys 4 apartments

Some Bronx residents are displaced from their homes Friday night after a fire destroyed four apartments in Van Cortlandt Village.

The flames sparked in a sixth-floor apartment at 3971 Gouverneur Ave. just after 5 p.m.

Fire officials say there were several people trapped but they were able to get everyone out.

They say two people were seriously injured and two were moderately hurt. All were taken to Jacobi Medical Center.

Officials say six others were treated at the scene and two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The Red Cross is providing shelter for those displaced.
