Police seek suspect in assault on young girl

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man suspected of assaulting and then robbing an 11-year-old girl last month.

Police say the girl was approached by a 25-year-old male in front of a laundromat in Fordham. They say he punched her in the face, then robbed her.

Authorities have released a photo of the suspect taken before the incident. They describe him as a black male, weighing about 200 pounds and standing at around 5 feet 10 inches tall.

The suspect was last seen wearing a grey and black jacket with a grey hoodie. Police say he got away with the girl's phone and backpack.

The 11-year-old victim refused medical treatment on the scene. No other injuries were reported apart from the trauma to her face.
