NYPD swears in new recruits
More than 800 new recruits took the first step to becoming part of New York City's finest.
The NYPD swore in 891 recruits at a ceremony today.
Some of the recruits have a long family history of policing, others are joining to protect and serve.
Mayor Bill de Blasio began the swearing in ceremony, and took a moment to commend the bravery of officers Pellerano and Dossi who were shot during an armed robbery Monday night.
The new recruits are expected to graduate from the police academy in July.
