Over the past year and a half, Charlie's Bar and Kitchen in Mott Haven has become a crowd favorite in the neighborhood.
Executive Chef Joshua Bedford, 30, says the journey to success has not been an easy one.
"I ended up meeting with the wrong kind of people, running away from home and then that's when the drugs thing happened," said Bedford.
He eventually got a job in cooking and was greeted with a very warm welcome in the Bronx.
Bedford says the restaurant has seen many improvements since opening, including a bigger bar and kitchen. He says he just wants to keep his success going.
