Police: Bronxdale rape suspect turns self in
Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the rape of a 51-year-old woman in Bronxdale on Christmas morning.
Police say 37-year-old Jose Roys greeted the victim at a bus stop near 2190 Boston Road at around 6:30 a.m. He then allegedly punched her in the face, dragged her to a secluded area and raped her before running away.
Paramedics transported the victim to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition with minor injuries to her face.
Police say Roys turned himself in Friday morning.
Roys faces charges of rape, robbery, assault and conducting a criminal sex act.
