Customers flood Italian bakery on Christmas Eve
While some Bronx residents took shelter in their homes from the rain on Christmas Eve, others braved the dreary weather to visit local bakeries.
Lines were outside the door at Zeppieri & Sons on Buhre Avenue in Pelham Bay, where customers waited to buy lobster tails, struffoli, sfogliatella and other pastries.
The bakery takes the holidays seriously. "Oh, it's easily months of preparation," said Carmine Zeppieri, who is the son in Zeppieri & Sons. "There's things you can do ahead of time in freezers, and there's things you got to do on the spot, and you do it as fast as you can."
Customers say the bakery's work is appreciated.
