Officials: 2 officers shot in Brooklyn

Two NYPD officers were shot and injured in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon, police say.

The shooting happened within the 79th Precinct, in the area of Myrtle and Tompkins avenues. The officers' identities and current conditions have not been released.

News 12 reporter Amanda Plasencia says she saw one person being taken away in an ambulance from Myrtle and Marcy avenues. However, it is not clear if it was a shooting suspect.

The circumstances that prompted the shooting remain unclear, and there's no word yet if a suspect has been taken into custody.

The city's Office of Emergency Management has tweeted to warn residents to anticipate traffic in the area of Myrtle Avenue due to NYPD activity and emergency personnel in the area.
