A Suffolk County officer at the scene of a DWI crash was hurt Thursday morning when a drunk driver struck his patrol car, police say.
Authorities say a 2023 Hyundai driven by 27-year-old Dimitrios Thomopoulos struck a pole on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington around 2:45 a.m.
As the car was being removed by a tow truck around 4 a.m., police say a 2016 Mini Cooper driven by 56-year-old James Byrne struck the patrol vehicle of the officer at the scene of the accident.
