3 men charged in Brookhaven drug ring

Cops: 3 men accused of running Brookhaven drug ring (12/10/12)

RIVERHEAD - Three men are facing conspiracy charges for running an alleged drug ring on the North Shore of Suffolk County, and one of the suspects works for the Town of Brookhaven, officials say.

Johnny Vargas, Thomas Forkin and Anthony Perretta allegedly sold Oxycontin and cocaine in the bars and clubs of northern Brookhaven. Prosecutors say they netted more than $250,000 per year selling pills for $25 each.

The men are named in an 11-count indictment that includes a slew of drug charges. Investigators say the ringleader was Forkin, a 30-year-old Brookhaven highway worker from Miller Place.

When authorities raided Forkin's home, they say they found hundreds of Oxycontin pills, several ounces of cocaine and more than $100,000 in cash. They say they collected incriminating video and wiretap recordings of him and his associates.

The trio will be back in court Dec. 21, and prosecutors say more charges and other arrests could be forthcoming.
